About Us
For a lot of reasons, it’s a one-of-a-kind retirement community.
You’ve discovered the first and only nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community in the Kanawha Valley.
Our mission is to provide a fulfilling and caring experience for residents. In all we do, we’re committed to preserving our culture of kindness, inclusion and social connectedness. These attributes are brought to life by the friendly people who live here, as well as a long-tenured staff dedicated to the welfare of every resident and the community’s future.
Edgewood Summit is owned by Edgewood Summit, Inc., a nonprofit senior living corporation whose sole purpose is to operate the community for the benefit of residents. We’re governed by a volunteer board of directors, and day-to-day management services are provided by Greystone.
You may already have friends here.
Residents of Edgewood Summit are a welcoming bunch, many of whom have cast wide social circles in and around Charleston. Plenty of residents remain involved in Charleston, individually and through organized community activities. Some are civic leaders, and others volunteer their time, continuing to contribute in large and small ways.
If you don’t already have a friend or two when you move in, you’re sure to have some soon after.
What’s the buzz?
Endorsements from residents and their families speak volumes about us.
Historic Milestones
1995: Edgewood Summit opens in Kanawha County, offering 90 independent living apartments and 40 assisted living apartments.
2001: Our community grows as we add an additional 37 independent living apartments.
2013: The Arthur B. Hodges Center opens, providing memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. Named for the benefactor of the Phase III project, these new levels of care make Edgewood Summit a true Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) – the only one of its kind in Charleston, WV, and one of only four in the state.
